Born and raised in Hollywood, California, front man and founding member of The Calling, Alex Band, began cultivating his deep, emotionally charged voice and songwriting ability at the age of five and had signed to RCA Records by fifteen.
In 2001, his band, The Calling, exploded onto the airwaves with their smash hit, "Wherever You Will Go", which reached the top of the charts and stuck there for a record 26 weeks straight.
Alex Band's voice was so mind-boggling, until you saw The Calling perform live, it was easy for some to dismiss their realism and legitimacy. Through years of hard work and touring in every corner of the planet (something Band is still proud of and known for today), The Calling turned into a global phenomenon.
Seven #1 songs worldwide and over 20 million album sales later, the song that started it all, "Wherever You Will Go" was named the #1 Song of The Decade ('00-'09) by Billboard magazine and the #3 Adult Pop song of all time, and featured in over a hundred movies and TV shows including Love Actually, Coyote Ugly and Smallville. Their debut album, Camino Palmero, was a true international hit, becoming Certified Gold and/or Platinum in over 40 countries.
In the midst of making their second album, Two, Band was fortunate enough to work with guitar legend, Carlos Santana, singing the hit song, "Why Don't You and I" which became the #5 Song f The Decade ('00-09) according to Billboard's Adult Pop Chart and #20 Adult Pop Song of all time.
After going #1 in places like the UK, Japan, Brazil, and Canada, Two's lead single, "Our Lives" was featured in the closing ceremonies of the 2004 Summer Olympics and was also the opening song of the 78th Academy Awards in 2005.
The Calling was forced to be put on hold as Alex dealt with some family issues but Alex never gave up - he pushed forward with writing and producing his first solo album, with its first single, "Tonight", becoming the theme song for the 2011 World Cup.
After years of hardship and health issues, Alex is excited to get back to his roots once again as The Calling with his current band members who have stuck by him over the past several years - Travis Loafman on Lead Guitar and Daniel Thomson on Drums.
Together, they are excited and ready to share new music and revisit the cherished songs of the past.
